A practical guide to Mahjong Connect

Open Mahjong Connect, check the instructions and begin a round. Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

6×8 grid and two-turn path finding.

Something to practise

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.

What the game asks you to do

Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Work through the instructions

  1. Select equal tiles.
  2. The route must cross only empty cells.
  3. An outside-border path is allowed.
  4. Open connections by removing pairs.

How to interact with the game

Tap pairs; use Hint and Undo. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Look at the feedback after the action.

A closer look at one example

A same-row pair needs an empty route between its endpoints. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Three corners are invalid. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
