Basketball Shooting: learn through an example

Start Basketball Shooting by looking at the playing area and its controls. Score as many baskets as possible from ten shots. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

One hoop, ten shots, gravity and rim/backboard collisions.

Bring this focus to a round

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Keep the objective visible.

The purpose of your moves

Score as many baskets as possible from ten shots. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Check the rules when you are unsure.

The order of play

  1. Set angle and power.
  2. Shoot.
  3. A downward crossing inside the rim scores.
  4. Adjust for another shot.

Keyboard and screen controls

Touch aim, sliders and Shoot; Space fires. Use the control method described here for this activity. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

Try this example

A rising crossing does not score until a downward entry occurs. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Pay attention to this rule

Backboard contact alone is not a basket. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
